The Next General Meeting will be on March 9, 2010

March 9, 2010 (Tue) – General Meeting at home of David Mincberg

Bellaire Democrats will hold a General Meeting on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the home of David Mincberg, 5406 Braeburn Dr, Bellaire TX 77401. Please arrive at 6:30 pm, if possible, so we can begin the meeting promptly at 7:00 pm.

Our special speaker will be Democratic Candidate for Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector/Voter Registrar, Diane Trautman. In light of the surprise defeat of incumbent, Leo Vasquez, in Tuesday’s Republican Primary, Diane Trautman is now in an advantageous position to defeat the Republican candidate (a 70-year-old, Tea Party, anti-tax crusader).  Be sure to join us and learn about the brilliant qualifications of Diane Trautman, and how she intends to utilize her skills and knowledge to revolutionize the tax office and the voter registrar office.

Please don’t miss this very informative session.  Members are encouraged to invite friends to join us for the evening.

Don't forget to renew your membership for 2009-2010. Mail your dues to:

3. Apr 5, 2010 (Mon) – First day of Early Voting for Democratic Primary Runoff Election

The first day of early voting for the Democratic Primary Runoff Election is Monday, April 5, 2010. The early voting will only be for five days, ending on Friday, April 9, 2010.   An early voting location close to Bellaire will be Bayland Park Community Center, 6400 Bissonnet St (near Hillcroft), Houston TX 77074.  You can go to www.HarrisVotes.com to obtain details about the early voting locations, dates and times, as well as information about requesting an application to vote by mail.

On the ballot for the precincts located in and around the City of Bellaire, there will be four judicial races in the runoff election.

Persons eligible to vote in the Democratic Primary Runoff Election include all registered voters who did not vote in either the Republican Primary Election or the Republican Primary Runoff Election.   So, you are eligible to vote in the Democratic Primary Runoff Election, even if you did not vote in either party’s primary election.

If you are not yet registered to vote in Harris County, you have until March 15, 2010 to submit your registration form to the Harris County Voter Registrar, in order to be qualified to vote in the Democratic Primary Runoff Election.

4. Apr 13, 2010 (Tue) – Democratic Primary Runoff Election

If you are unable to vote early by mail or in person (as discussed in Item 3 above), be sure to vote at your precinct’s voting location on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.  It is very likely that voting locations will be combined on Election Day, so check with the Harris County Clerk at www.HarrisVotes.com for the exact address of your precinct’s voting location on Election Day.

Will your VOTE Count?

PLEASE don't take our system of Electronic Voting for granted.

Diebold machines are particularly under fire for poor security,
but even with a paper trail, no voting machine is truly accountable.

At this time, no paper trail is provided by the eSlate machines in Harris County Electionsl
