Calendar of Events

June 2009

1. New Officers for 2009 - 2011

At the Bellaire Democrats Annual Family Picnic held on May 12, 2009, Officers were elected for the two-year period June 1, 2009 through May 31, 2011. Your new Officers are:

President Margo Kendrick
1st V.P. Carolyn Mata
2nd V.P. Nancy Lomax
Secretary Elaine Schroller
Treasurer Patrick Durio

Also, Margo appointed Jamie Allen to serve as Parliamentarian for the two-year term.

2. Time for Annual Dues Payments

Since June 1, 2009 is the start of a new fiscal year for Bellaire Democrats, it is time for everyone to join/renew membership in Bellaire Democrats. We keep the dues structure very low, so everyone can afford to join. Individual memberships are suggested at $5 to $15, depending on your ability to pay. If members wish to share a single mailing to a household, we suggest $5 to $25 per household. We invite Democratic elected officials and candidates to join Bellaire Democrats. If your campaign account is low on funds, a $5 donation will do.

This summer we will not be having a Bellaire Democrats garage sale, so we really need cash donations in addition to membership dues. Any amount you can afford to donate would be greatly appreciated.

If you did not receive a Membership Application in our recent mail out, you can download a form from www.BellaireDemocrats.org The application and checks should be mailed to:

Bellaire Democrats
c/o Patrick Durio, Treasurer
4624 Holt St
Bellaire, TX 77401-5809

We will notify everyone of the specific meeting locations and speakers prior to each scheduled date. You can also check www.BellaireDemocrats.org for updates about the meeting schedule.

4. July 4th Parade & Booth

Bellaire Democrats will again participate in the City of Bellaire July 4th parade & festival on Saturday, July 4 2009, 9:00 am. We invite and encourage everyone (including elected Democratic officials and candidates) to join us. It is a really fun event. We will walk together in a group in the parade, and toss red, white & blue beads to the crowd. At our booth during the festival we will have a life-size cutout of President Barack Obama, and allow the crowd to take free pictures with the President. We also plan to disburse free information packets to the crowd for their use in sending needed items to U.S. soldiers.

Please RSVP to Nancy Lomax at nrlomax@comcast.net and let her know the names of those who plan to walk with Bellaire Democrats in the parade. Also, if you can volunteer some time at the booth, please notify Nancy. Everyone who sends an RSVP will be sent detailed information about times and locations for lining up for the parade.

Other Notes:

a. Reminders will be sent to current members about renewing your membership in Bellaire Democrats for the upcoming fiscal year of June 1, 2009 through May 31, 2010. If you need a membership renewal/application form, please go to www.BellaireDemocrats.org

b. Please visit and bookmark the webpage of the Bellaire Democrats at: www.BellaireDemocrats.org . We will do the best we can to keep you up-to-date about events, issues and elections. At the webpage you can find links to the Harris County Democratic Party, as well as the Harris County Clerk and other informative sites.

c. We attempt to limit our E-mail transmissions to no more than two messages per month (one for the Calendar of Events, and one for the Newsletter). In order to reduce the financial and environmental cost of mailouts, we encourage members to receive communications by E-mail. However, if you prefer to receive communications by U.S. mail, that is okay. Send your communication preference request to Patrick Durio at: patrick.durio@durio.pro .

Thanks!
