2. Feb 16, 2010 (Tue) – Early Voting Begins
Beginning Tuesday, February 16, 2010, registered voters may vote in the Democratic Primary at any Early Voting location in Harris County. One of the locations close to the City of Bellaire is Bayland Park Community Center, 6400 Bissonnet St (near Hillcroft), Houston TX 77074. You may go to www.HarrisVotes.com to see the complete list of Early Voting locations, dates and times.
3. Feb 26, 2010 (Fri) – Early Voting Ends
The last day for Early Voting in Person is Friday, February 26, 2010. We encourage all voters to vote early, as soon as you have determined your choice of candidates in the contested races.
4. Mar 2, 2010 (Tue) – Election Day
Election Day for the Democratic Primary is Tuesday, March 2, 2010. If you do not vote early, either in person or by mail, you will need to vote on Election Day at the location specified for your individual precinct. Please note that several precincts will be combined into single voting locations. Precincts 128, 268 & 826 will vote at the Bellaire Civic Center. Precincts 182 & 447 will vote at Horn Elementary School. Precincts 214 & 215 will vote at Faith Lutheran Church. Prior to election day we will mail reminders about voting locations, along with addresses of each location.
We need Election Clerks to work the polls at the above three locations on Election Day. If you can work all day, or for a few hours, please contact Patrick Durio at patrick.durio@durio.pro , or contact your individual Precinct Chair directly.
5. Mar 2, 2010 (Tue) – Precinct Conventions
Remember those great precinct conventions for Obama and Clinton? Well, it’s that time again! However, since this is not a Presidential Election year, the precinct conventions will be much less hectic.
Each individual precinct will conduct a precinct convention following the close of the polls on or after 7:00 pm, at the location where that precinct is voting on Election Day. The polls will not close until the last person in line at 7:00 pm has completed voting. Everyone who votes in the Democratic Primary (either on election day, or in early voting) is eligible to participate in the convention of the precinct in which the voter is registered. Participants will elect delegates and alternate delegates to represent the precinct at the Senate District 17 Convention (to be held on March 20, 2010). Participants at the precinct convention will also vote on any resolutions they may wish to submit for consideration at the Senate District 17 Convention.
Anyone who voted in the Democratic Primary, but is unable to attend their precinct convention, may submit their request to be considered for election as a delegate or alternate delegate to the Senate District 17 Convention, by notifying the Democratic Precinct Chair of their individual precinct. To locate contact information for Democratic Precinct Chairs, you may go to the webpage of Harris County Democratic Party at www.HCDP.org .
6. Mar 20, 2010 (Sat) – Senate District 17 Convention
The Senate District 17 Convention will be held in Houston, TX on Saturday, March 20, 2010. The exact location has not yet been determined, but it will likely be at a school or similar facility in Houston. The convention will probably last from about 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Delegates and Alternate Delegates at the convention will have the option of attending 45-minute workshops on various topics and issues. There will be presentations by various speakers, candidates and elected officials. The participants will elect Delegates and Alternate Delegates to represent Senate District 17 at the Texas Democratic Convention to be held in Corpus Christi, TX on June 25 & 26, 2010. Participants will also vote on Resolutions to be submitted for consideration at the Texas Democratic Convention.
